Introduction

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Kelsey Stewart and I am an 18 year old freshman here at OU.  I am from Houston, Texas and I am majoring in aviation.  I chose to attend OU for a couple reasons.  The main reason was for the aviation department.  I also chose OU because I have family who live in the Tulsa area, and Oklahoma is far enough, but not TOO far, from Houston.  Back home are my parents, my soon to be eight year old sister, Jillian, and my two dogs Kimmie and Sonny.  I miss my family a lot, but I am really enjoying my freshman year!

Some of my favorite things to do are go flying, skydiving, go to the lake, read, watch movies, listen to music, hang out with my friends, and eat!  As of right now I have about 20 hours of flight time and I have been skydiving twice.  I just love to be in the air and be able to look down on everything.  I think it is such a thrill.  I also love to watch movies and in particular, comedies.  Another one of my favorite pastimes is to eat.  I love all food, but my favorites are Mexican and Indian. 

Along with aviation, I am very interested in women's studies.  I am taking this course because I am thinking of minoring in women's studies, and there were many other courses that I am interested in that need this class as a pre-requisite.   

Some of the questions that I hope can be answered in this class are:

1.  Why are women so concerned with body image?

2.  Should the government get to decide what we do with our bodies as far as abortion and prostitution goes?

3.  Why do women get paid less than men?

4.  What defines a feminist?

5.  How do men view women?

I am very excited for this class and I hope that it will open my eyes to why women are so complex, and why we are the way we are.
